The process for getting your resident Virginia permit is really rather simple. Simply print and fill out the below application and take it to the Clerk of the Court's office in the city or county in which you live. Also bring along the certificate that printed out upon successful completion of Introduction to Pistol Safety. They will set you up with a worker to fingerprint you and send along your completed application, fingerprints and certificate of completion to the Virginia State Police who will run a background check on you. Upon successful completion of the background check, the State Police Office will send you your ConcealedCarry Permit. The general rule is that they must get it to you within 45 days. There is generally a cost involved with this process (usually about $100).
